Sprint Mode: Clear 40 Lines Against the Clock

Sprint is a race. The board is empty, the speed never changes, and the clock runs until you have cleared 40 lines. Your best time is saved, so every run is a chance to beat yourself.

How Sprint mode works

How to get a faster 40-line time

  1. Hard drop every piece. Gravity is slow on purpose. Move the piece into place and press Space (or swipe down) right away.
  2. Every row counts the same. In Sprint, lines are what matter, not points. Clearing four rows at once is still the fastest route, because one piece does the work of four.
  3. Stack nine wide, drop the bar. Keep one edge column empty and fill the other nine. Each long bar then clears four rows.
  4. Learn where each piece goes without rotating twice. Every extra rotation costs time. Learn the rotation each shape needs for the spots you use most.
  5. Look at the next piece, not the current one. By the time a piece spawns, you should already know where it goes.

What is a good Sprint time?

A first finish is an achievement on its own. Getting under three minutes means you are placing pieces without hesitating, under two minutes means you are hard-dropping almost everything, and under one minute takes steady four-row clears.
