Timed Mode: 90 Seconds, as Many Lines as You Can
Timed mode gives you 90 seconds and a board that already has wood in it. The goal is simple: score as much as you can before the clock runs out. It is the best mode for a quick game on a break.
Easy and Hard
| Easy | Hard | |
|---|---|---|
| Time limit | 90 seconds | 90 seconds |
| Rows already filled | 5 | 12 |
| Starting speed | Normal | 1.5× faster |
| Speeds up | A little with every line | A little with every line |
Each filled row at the start has a gap in it, so the prefilled wood is not dead weight: it is material for big clears if you can reach the gaps.
How to score high in 90 seconds
- Read the board before you drop. Look at where the gaps in the prefilled rows line up. A piece that fills a gap shared by several rows can clear them together.
- Hard drop everything. Waiting for gravity wastes seconds. Once a piece is in position, press Space or swipe down.
- Multi-row clears beat single rows. Two rows at once score 400, four rows score 1,600. In a short game, one big clear can be worth more than ten small ones.
- Let cascades work for you. When a clear drops loose blocks into the rows below, those rows may clear too, and each step of the chain scores more.
- On Hard, stay below the top third. With 12 rows already filled there is little room. Clear first, build later.
Easy or Hard: which should you play?
Start with Easy until you can clear the prefilled rows in the first 30 seconds. Hard is a different game: the board is more than half full and pieces arrive faster, so survival comes first and every placement counts.
